Grandma’s Hamburger Barley Stew

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 48 oz. (3 pints) beef broth
  • 28 oz can tomatoes, diced or crushed
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) creamed corn
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 3 celery ribs, sliced
  • 1/2 cup barley
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp.  oregano
  • 1/2 tsp.  basil
  • 1 tsp. cilantro
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  1. Brown beef and onion in skillet.  
  2. Combine all ingredients in slow cooker.
  3. Cover.  Cook on High 3 hours, or Low 6-8 hours.
